I agree that some of the readers will go into the other forums, but i dont soley come on here to read diaries, i try and help too.

I think people will flit between the two, but then again I cant say for sure.

Anyway, I didnt know this had been discussed at length before, feel free to ignore. :o

I did a diary, but to be honest it wasn't read much, it ended up more for me than anyone else , so I agree that a separate board wouldn't be a bad idea. Having said that there's danger of breaking the forum up into too many sections and then people might find it difficult to find things.

The board could be streamlined more in other ways. For instance I think that there are too many post and topics aren't to do with money or getting debt free, but to sort that would probably require more moderation.
  • A streamlined and efficient board?
I would have found that very off-putting when I arrived. :o

This is more like a community than a service provider. I like it that way.
And it provides a service as a by-product of being such a good community.

If you think we are missing people who are in need, then by all means point us towards that hole. Most of us would mind terribly if someone in need was over-looked, but I'm not sure that people are slipping through.

I prefer it how it is. I don't read diaries as a rule because I just can't keep up with long threads. There's one that I am reading because it has particular resonance with me, and if I had to go to a separate board then I wouldn't bother.

I understand what you mean about the board getting clogged up, but I find it quite easy just to ignore the diaries and look for 'normal' threads. I also always go through as many pages as it takes to get through the new ones, looking out for new threads without many replies.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I have a diary but mainly its purely for my benefit. I must admit that I read most of the diaries on here and add comments when I feel the need. I am also very aware of newbies especially late at night and will actively seek new posts that have slipped down the pages just to give them a bump or offer support.

Personally, I think the board should stay as it is - diaries are also useful for newbies to read because then they can see that they aren't the only ones in a predicament.

I_A, sadly you could say that to a great many posts on this board. Just because you've seen it before doesn't mean it should never be said again. It is only polite to answer the OP with reasons, even if they've all been said many times before.

You wouldn't think twice about saying:
"Avoid a consolidaion loan, it doesn't deal with the reason for your debt" or
"Get over to the OS board and cut that food bill" or
    "Sky will have to go"

imagine if a first time poster got "oh Deja Vue" as their response?
The OP asked a fair question, and we have given her the respect of a considered answer, not a yawn.

Oh I know.. if anything I was just trying to be lighthearted about it all. I've lost count how many times this has been debated on here and the answer is always the same. Martin doesn't want them to be seperated so that's the way it is.
