Just bought a tv dvd freeview combi from tesco.
I can just about get freeview channels (but not all and not very good signal strength) through an aeriel in the loft, using a signal booster. We have tried connecting this to the digital aeriel we have outside, but cannot pick up any signal at all with this, though the freeview channels are showing fine on the main tv. I also bought a digital indoor aerial to see if this helped, but could not get any signal (analogue or digital) off this.
I am thinking now of getting another digital aerial to replace the aeriel in the loft, unless anyone can suggest anything else for me to try.
I have tried auto tuning for the channels and also the initial reset installation but this does not improve things.
Thanks

Hi There is no such thing as a digital aerial. Search the forum, been done before.
You need a good roof top setup. You need to reside in a strong signal strengh area. That's it.0 -

Any suggestions for this? The roof top aeriel is - I believe - good quality but I cannot seem to get any signal from the split connector. I have checked on wolfbane and it suggests an amplified axtra hi-gain - no idea what that means.0 -
aerials are pretty weak and degrade with time/weather.....and a new one will cost less than 40 quid.......just make sure you get a high gain one and like totalsolutions said don't be suckered into buying a special "digital" oneIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

Signal boosters are generally awful. Splitters actually do just that ~ they SPLIT the signal into 2 (meaning half power or whatever the split is)
So you need a decent aerial on your ROOF and connect with H109 / CT100 Type Satellite Cable (Less degredation in the signal)

You might need a wideband aerial."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

I think we have a wideband aeriel on the roof now. I have brought the new tv downstairs, conneced it on the same output socket as the main tv was on. I thought that I would be able to pick up the same channels on the new tv as I get on the main tv, but I cannot get a lot of the channells.
We have been and bought new connectors to replace the old ones, but cannot understand why we are not picking up the signal

Why not get a sky dish with freeview?
I was quoted £300 for a decent aerial and then a sky chap said they do the dish, box, card and installation for £150!
I read somewhere that currys were doing same thing for £75.
No monthly subscriptions but a lot of channels (over 200) and the usual sky screen and remote etc, I also paid £30 to have it routed upstairs.:T0
