Maxtor 1 Touch Hick Up

Could anybody point me in the right direction to solving a problem I have with my PC once upon a time it used to work with my Maxtor 1 Touch external Hard Drive ( in :- my computer) it would show up I would click on it and would be able to enter it. But No More. I tried it via a USB2 port on a laptop and it works fine , so I would say There is something missing (drivers) or something. I have done a repair on XP home but to no avail .I have also reinstalled the cd that came with the hard drive.
ANY IDEAS please.

Thought I would give an update on the problem I had above in case anybody else suffers with the same problem. I got so fed up I deleted all the USB ( I presume device drivers ) in my device manager. So I could not use any USB connected devices at all. By pure chance I have an MSI program on the computer supplied with the MSI mother board which looks for updates on their website. I checked for updates and it told me there was an update for USB's, so I down loaded it, I can now use my MAXTOR hard drive and any other USB connected device. BINGO one happy bunny.
