Sharing Laptop files

I have a Desktop running XP Pro hard wired to my router/modem an my Laptop running Vista connected by wireless.

Can some please tell me how I can access files on my Laptop by my Desktop?

I can't remember exactly which buttons / menus to use but you need to set up a home network. This should have the same name on both computers (eg "home"). Windows provides a pretty easy Wizard to follow to set this up (once you've found it!)

Your computers will (should) then be able to see each other. More's the point, they will be able to see each other's SharedDocs. So put the files you want each other computer to see in the SharedDocs. You'll find this in My Network Places in Windows Explorer.

And your home network will be in the "Entire Network", "Microsoft Windows Network", also in My Network Places.

Well, that's how I do it anyway.

Edit: just noticed you said your lappy was Vista. My daughter got a Vista lappy recently and although she can access files on the XP computers around the house, I got prompted for a password when I tried accessing hers. As it's her computer, bought out her own money, I didn't bother looking into it any further. But I guess you'll know all the necessary passwords!
