Hi all
I'm hoping someone with more knowledge than me (which isn't hard!
) can settle an argument that's got a bit out of hand.
If a router has two computers attached to it, one cable and the other wireless, is it possible to throttle the wireless connection while leaving the cable connection at full speed?
Not really a problem, just looking for an answer.

You could force the wireless to operate at "b" mode only so it operates at 11mbps?A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0

easy just turn the router to b mode as said before in its settings......that way the speed is reduced however probably un noticed by the user....depends what your downloadingIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

In the advanced wireless setup you can set which mode the wireless operates at.
There was a mode "a" which uses a different band so is to all intents and purposes ignored here, but the next one is "b" which operates at 11mpbs, all the way up to "g" or "n+" (I can't remember the exact modes and speeds as wireless is not my area).
Normally a router is setup to operate in mixed mode, so it can connect any device from b upwards, but by forcing to b, all connected devices will fall back to the slower b mode.
