Empire Direct advice pls

I purcased a lcd/dvd tv from empire direct after 29 days (from order date not recieved by date) it caught fire!!

I rang them and they said I had to contact prestigio direct, which I did they sent an engineer who said it is not repairable, he rand empire for me as he thought it ridiculous they hadnt sent a new tv, anyway empire said I shouldnt have rung prestigio (they told me to) they should have collected it, so I explained in the end he said its outside the 28 days but as a gesture of goodwill due to being messed about he would exchange it, which was fine by me.

However, they had none in stock, he told me to check website for alternative and they had no tv/dvd instock at all, so i said I wanted a refund he said its not possible as its outside 28 days!!!!!

Help needed please, fellow MSErs:beer:

    Rubbish. ring back and speak to someone who knows what they are talking about.
    The item is faulty-its !!!!!!ed!- they cant charge you for it.

    Ring back and speak to someone else, if they dont give you a refund then speak to a manager.

    ask for a refund. then put the conversation in an e-mail to them.

    if they don't reply, ring again. e-mail again, and start adding costs on top.

    i'll be avoiding empire direct if this is how they treat customers that could have been injured by faulty products
