  • I would have put it into the charity box too.
  • Shocked to see replies. If it isn`t yours, it belongs to someone else!!
Whilst training in work, on bank deposits, saw £20 outside shop, said "look there" to trainee, she picked it up. Told her to take to police station up road, she pocketed the money and lied, saying that she handed it in, I phoned yto check. Had told her that you get it in 28days if it isn`t claimed. Outcome, she was sacked for dishonesty, no reference.
Come on people, hand it in, you make someone happy if they claim it, you get it back in 28days if they don`t and can spend it guilt free

I would keep it. Finders keepers, Isnt that a saying!?!?
If no one was looking for it while I was in there, buying, eating etc then yeah, why not. And yes, I would feel guilty................ but not for long!!!
  • I found a wallet in my local MacDonalds, it was packed! Maybe with receipts but it could have been cash.
Before I knew what I was doing the good samaritan in me was hading the wallet to the monkeys at MacDonalds. As soon as I'd done it I regretted it so much. The teen on the counter handed it to the manager (who could not have been much older) and I literally saw his face light up.
I felt like such a fool, and for the rest of the day couldnt help wondering whether the owner of the wallet actually got it back with its original contents. Being a not very confident 5ft nothing woman, I didnt feel I could go and kick up a stick and ask for it back so I didn't, I wish I had asked for it back and found the owner myself, I STILL feel rotten about it to this very day....................

You got someone sacked for 20 quid, nice

No, she got someone sacked for being dishonest & a liar, which is fair enough I'd say.

How can you employ someone to work on bank deposits when they can't be trusted with money??
  • Yeah I'd pocket it.

I like Woodgnome's distraction technique - I'd probably drop something else - like my purse - and scoop the tenner up with it.

Would I challenge someone else who pocketed it? Prob not, but I'd be mad as hell I hadn't done it first!

I don't believe that anyone would find a tenner on the floor, pick it up, and then find a charity box and put it in there. Yeah right, you wish. Stop fooling yourselves.
You'd like to think you would, but in reality it would go deep in your pockets.
I'd keep it. In life we loose and we gain. I have both lost money and found money. That is life
  • I have on three occasions in my life been fortunate enough to find banknotes lying about. On the first occasion My friend and I found a twenty and a five blowing in the wind. The friend gave me ten of it and I gave it to my mum for groceries. The second I found a fiver in an arcade and gave it again to my mum. On the third hubby and I found twenty pounds in a bin and pocketed it. If we had handed it in then there was no way anyone could prove it was thiers. Besides if you really believe you would get it back after 28 days then personally I think you are living in cloud cuckoo land.
    Loving the dtd thread. x

Who is going to ask the person in front if it's theirs?

I mean - I might tell the staff at the till (or better still the manager if he/she could be easily located) that I found it on the floor and for them to hold it in case anyone comes and asks if its been handed in - but only if I felt I could really trust them to do that. Otherwise, I would hang onto it myself.
