Air miles - can they be sold?

Options
I have about 3,000 air miles which are registered with the Airmiles company (that is, not paper vouchers with "100 miles" written on them).
I've been earning them for several years but haven't used them - I've just about decided that I'm never going to use them, so I'd like to get some money for them!
I've already sold my paper airmiles vouchers on eBay, but is there anything I can do to sell or trade the rest of my Airmiles does anyone know?
Thanks!

Apart from the fact that they supposedly aren't transferable, they are rendered next to useless because of the ridiculously high taxes and charges levied on flights these days. ie.£55 to Amsterdam, £97 to Bangkok.

So for example, flights are available to AMS for £80. That leaves £25 for the flight portion. You would need 500 miles plus taxes and charges to cover a flight to AMS, therefore 500 miles would be valued at £25. Then of course, there would have to be an incentive, further reducing the value.

Airmiles were great when airport tax was £5 and £10 and there were none of these 'Passenger Service Charges'.

But with 3,000 Airmiles the OP could fly to somewhere like St Petersburg in Club class which in cash terms is around £1,000.

Or alternatively to Cairo in economy, and these cost cheapest of about £350.
  • I'm not sure about sale or transfer, at one time you could combine two accounts which might be a way of effectively transfering them and closing your account. You can definitely use air miles to buy a ticket in another persons name I've just done this for a relative using the online booking system.

What on earth....? Airmiles don't offer Club Class flights and certainly not for 3000 miles.

Cairo? The LEAST you'll find that for in Economy is 4,340 miles plus £104.90 taxes and charges.

    Strange post.

There are some like 30 Trillion(that is an awful lot of zeros) unused airmiles in circulation.

If you gave them their nominal value it is the largest 'currency' in the World.

I would love to fly to St Petersburg in club for 3,000 miles - care to let us into the secret?

    Hi
I would not use them for air travel but they can be used for Eurostar and hotel stays. I have used 1200 approx for a 1 night stay in a double room at Bournemouth, including breakfast this year.
    Hope that this helps

Part miles, part cash is not 3000 Airmiles. It's 3000 Airmiles and lots of cash.

    This is your post;

Nowhere within is it written that your St Petersburg Club Class booking was part cash, part miles.
