I need help!!! Are expecting baby next year and wanted to buy camcorder for xmas pressie. We have a dvd recorder so I want to download images straight from camcorder. Is this possible? and what should I be looking for/features when buying eg zoom/pixels etc etc. I haven't a clue. Have about 450 pounds to spend. Any suggestions would be v appreciated.

You might want to buy a DVD camcorder - a bit more expensive than mini-DV tape equipped cameras but maybe better for you. I have a mini-dv camera and can download from the camera straight into the DVD recorder if needed, or into my PC.
I made sure that I bought a camcorder with DV-IN and DV-OUT so that I could put my old analogue films into digital format so you might want to consider that too.To infinity and beyond!0 -
This is a good website for reviews on particular models (it is from the US so may have slight differences in model numbers)
I also have seen http://uk.shopping.com/xPO-JVC_Everio_GZ_MG50_25596815~CLT-HSNLF hard drive camcorders which do not need tapes or discs.0
