Council tax query

Hello
Can anyone tell me: If I was living single with two kiddies, either paying a mortgage or living in a fully paid private home, and on full working tax/child tax credits, would I be entitled to council tax benefit?
Thanks
Alison

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to the Benefits board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
You will be entitled to single occupancy discount, ring council tax and they will send you a form to fill out. takes a few weeks but with a couple of hundred pound knocked off the bill helpsLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

You can apply but I doubt you will get any about the single occupier - all I got was the 25% discount - apart from the tax credits had less than £6000 a year coming in but they count tax credits as income and say it was enough to pay the CT0

The single person discount of 25% is not income assessed , its based solely on whether there is only 1 adult over 18 in the property who is not otherwise disregarded, being the only adult the OP is entitled to it.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
