how would i set this up?
ive searched the net and all ive found is options where i have to pay for a program which sets it up for you but im sure i can do this via form to sms? Does anyone have any ideas? Also how much would this cost? Would my network provider charge me for receiving a text from my website? Any info would be great.
I have to go out now but will be back around 7.30 tonight so dont think im not grateful for repsonses

You would have to have an account with a mobile operator in order to send text messages even from a website. The details of how you go about doing this will most likely be dependent on your mobile operator as you'll be sending a message to their SMSC (SMS server).
To answer your specific question, your network provider won't charge you for receiving the message but the provider used to send it from your website would.0 -
http://www.cbfsms.com is also free.0

Im not sure about the BT thing, but i used clickatell along with the clickatell API and worked lovely, simple to install and worked great.0

Certainly not Pop Up nor Ad free.0 -
There is also www.18185.co.uk which gives cheap telephone calls and ALSO cheap web SMS texts (currently 1p each). The advantage with 18185 is the sms text will appear to come from your chosen registered number (eg your home phone or your mobile).
I would really like to know if there is a very cheap way to send sms from a home phone. At the moment I think the only option on a BT line is to use the BT SMS service which is 10p a time.0 -
Just a pity that 18185 make such a kludge of the user interface.
- No address book
- Fiddly log in
- Not easy to see log of sent messages
- Free format phone number entry, easy to get wrong
- Not always obvious if message got sent
- Problems with Firefox when I last checked, cant see number of characters entered, and it does not do multiple texts for long messages.
Cos of the above, I hardly use 18185 texts even through I have an account.
Baffling that 18185 added this at a tempting price then kludged it, I'd be willing to pay 5p instead of 1p if the interface was really good.0 -
Im not sure if some of you understand what i mean. I have a local community website and i want visitors to it to be able to send me a text from my website. For example...
if a tourist looks up my town on the web and wants to know if there is a art gallery in my town, they will fill in a form on my site with the question and i will receive it on my phone where i can use my phone to reply to themI need a cig...
