  • The buyer clearly states///in your own words...

"I bought this item off ebay and never really got it to work."

Alarm bells would have rung straight away...........he might be clever with his use of words, but it's fairly obvious you're leaving yourself open to buying a dead duck!!
He got it off eBay..new or used????.so you possibly bought a 3rd hand item......!!

I'm surprised he offered any refund at all....and if you neg him he'll come straight back at you.

Good luck with getting a refund, but as others have said you can buy new for only a little more than you paid for it!!

I bought a dvd recorder on ebay and it turned out that the thing doesn't work properly.

Out of curiosity, whats the symptoms of it not working properly? These things can still be temperamental beasts and not a direct replacement for video recorders. Types of disk used, different manufacturers disks etc all can make a BIG difference. Have you tried a google search for that model and see if anyone else has had the same problem? If its less than a year old, can you contact the manufacturer?

I've heard of people even having had to apply firmware patches to dvd recorders to get them to work correctly, so check around first!
