Seller is no longer registered on eBay

Hi

I won a phone yesterday on eBay and paid straight away using PayPal (some from balance already there and rest from bank) but when I logged on to eBay this morning it said that the seller was no longer registered. I have emailed the seller saying are you still sending the item but no reply as of yet.

Should I start a chargeback now or how long should I wait?

Item number 6451006808

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If i was you, I would wait a couple of days to see if the seller emails you and if not I would request their contact details here -
    http://cgi1.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?UserInformationRequest

    and try to call them.
if phoning them didnt work then i would look into chargeback.

    Good Luck!

Get in touch with paypal and get your money back straight away, if the system doesn't allow you to start a chargeback then phone paypal and talk to them.

The reason I say that is because you had a 1 feedback seller using a stock photo of a popular mobile, that alone screams scam at me.

However digging further your scam seller has sold 16 very expensive high end electrical goods in a 2 day period, he was aiming to get funds in and clear out before he can be stopped. Unfortunately he has hooked a lot of inexperienced buyers, and one buyer with feedback of nearly 200 who should have known better!

All you can do now is hope to get hold of paypal to recover your losses before the scammer disappears for good. If you can't get your money back then contact the other bidders and see if you can start an action in the small claims court, howeve for that you would need his actual physical address which might be difficult.

  • Thank you for your help and I have now started the chargeback process.

I know I was stupid buying something with a high value from someone with a low feedback but I really wanted the phone and got it at quite a good price.
  • She has now sent me an email saying:

your phone will be with you in 3- 5 days

    thanks

What should I do now? Just wait for the phone and if I do get it (I'm not very hopeful) stop the chargeback?
  • Yes, leave the chargeback running until you receive the phone, don't cancel it yet!

Would the seller be aware that a chargback is being initiated? If so then i would assume the seller is trying to delay you from going ahead with it. See if they contact you regarding the chargeback but keep it going.

Hope you either get your phone or your money back.

  • I think so because the seller has to reply to the chargeback (or I get my money back no questions asked) so I agree this is just a delaying tactic and I will keep the chargeback process going.
  • The chargeback finished and I got all my money back!!! :j I think that the seller didn't reply and couldn't withdraw their money in time. I hope that other people that got scammed by her and everyone who has been scammed ended up with a result like me. Thanks everyone
