Friends reunited debiting from bank !!

 My mum has been getting charged £9.95 a month by friends reunited even though they are meant to be free now. I am tring to find out how long this has been free it was only basic friends reunited she sighned up for in first place and genes reunited is showing up on bank statement too?? I have emailed them trying to get the phone number to call them but will probably wait another 24hrs to get a response. All morning I have tried to find a contact telephone number for them but it's nowhere online to be found. Could anyone who may have this contact number let me know because sorting this out by email with them will take ages and I don't like the thought of bank details being emailed to them, rather speak direct to one of them. If you can help please do I am tearing my hair out here

But they were only ever £7.50 for 6 months use, so the £9.95 per month doesn't make sense.

  • I have just recieved this email in reply to my asking for a contact number regarding a problem with bank account payments to friends reunited. This is what it read,

The Friends Reunited support team consists of a small group of homeworkers so, unfortunately, we are not in a position to offer a telephone support service.

What is going on with these people they expect us to give bank details to homeworkers, oh no there is no way, this is a farce, between emailing them and phoning to get a reply to call back between 9am - 5.30pm office hours when it's 1.30pm on a Tuesday my mind is boggling. All I know is £9.95 has been removed by them each month for over 11 months alot of money which has to be stopped and reimbursed back to my mum, but how when I cant even talk to anyone there in authority??

Sunnydays - just to confirm is it definitely coming out of her bank account by DD? Or is it a regular debit of her debit card (linked to her current account)? If it is the latter, get your Ma to ring the bank and tell them she never authorised those charges. Not sure who she banks with but I did this on my Halifax account and got the money back, also with my Abbey business account (same thing - and the dispute was with a hotel in Paris!).

If it is by DD she should have received the DD t's and c's when she signed up. If she didn't get these I believe they would have had no right to keep debiting.

Are you sure it is Friends Reunited? As someone else has said, their fee has never been £9.95 anyway. Is it a direct debit or a card payment - if it is a DD, ask the bank to cancel it ASAP then at least your mum won;t pay any more whilst it is being looked into.
