You aren't comparing apples with apples though.
Masterfit are using original Vauxhall parts entirely, the local garage is using their own sourced parts plus less labour etc.
The local garage job is probably just as good, but wouldn't be the same price if they were changing entire driveshafts with original parts.0 -
VX labour is nearly £100 an hour , a local garage will be around £30-£400

I've just fitted a new cv joints kit to my Corsa - I ordered the part online from Partselecta (£13+P&P) and they came the very next day.
They also appear to be selling on Ebay too (another good place for cheap car parts).
They were aftermarket replacements but fitted nicely and the knocking noise I had has disappeared!
I'm not exactly a fully qualified mechanic but with the help of a Haynes manual I managed to do the work myself and even save on paying a mechanic! :T0 -
So dealerships are a lot more expensive than independents, and independents are a lot more expensive than doing the work yourself?
