I have itunes installed on my pc. All my music has dropped off my ipod.(don't know what I have done ) I have backed up all of my mp3's (over 10,000) onto my external 250gb drive. itunes was originally on my c drive, which i have got rid of all the music to free up space on c drive (only 75gb).
How can I get the itunes software to search my pc for available music, just like it did when I first installed it ? I am getting a little worried now as 20 years worth of music is floating around with out me being able to access it.
Your wonderful help and advice is needed mse !

HI,
>don't know what I have done
> itunes was originally on my c drive, which i have got rid of ...
That's what.
You saying you move all your stuff to another drive and cant remember where you put it?
OR
You have deleted the music files?
iTunes works by syncing with your files on 'c' drive you delete them and iTunes does the same to your iPod.
Try windows search/find0 -
I dont have Itunes but cant you plug your EHD in, then resync I tunes and point it at the EHD rather than c:\mydocs\mymusic (or wherever the default location is)."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

I have download the 10,000 tracks from my old creative player onto my new external drive, I have then moved the itunes application to the external drive and want itunes to search that drive for all the mp3 files a bit like when I 1st installed itunes it searched both c and d drives for all music, now I want to search my new j drive.
previously I was able to play and tracks from my creative palyer thru the pc, I didn't realise ipods wouldn't let you do this. I didn't realise that once i had delated the music from the c drive i wouldn't be able to load it again from the ipod- hence why I have reloaded from the old player, i just want itunes to find this music now so i can put it back on my ipod.0
