Complaint declined but "goodwill gesture" offered....

Hi
I have applied to Halifax CC for payment of unlawful charges amounting to £200 + interest of £37.12.
The company replied very speedily "declining" my complaint but offering £91.00 as a "goodwill gesture which amounts to a reduction of the original fees to £12 per fee. They also said that refunds of interest will "not be considered".
So what do I do now? Accept? Or try the FOS? The money won't be coming to me either way as I am in debt to the Halifax.
Hoping for some advice.
Thanks
Kath.

thank you for your good luck wishes.
What I am really hoping for is a reccomendation - perhaps from someone with experience of claiming from the Halifax CC - as in is it worth pressing on or not?

I got all charges back on my halifax card after the second letter but not interest. Definately pursue the full charges. The £12 was not a recommendation, just the level below which the OFT wouldn't pursue action against the lender. The report did not give a recommended level just that it should represent the "true cost".
good luck which ever way you decide to go.

  • Hi

If you phone Halifax customer relations - number on top of your letter and tell them that you wish to have all your charges refunded. The person you speak to will "escalate" your claim. You should then in a couple of weeks get an offer of the lot.

I got £650 back from them and never even had to send a letter.

    Good luck.

Good heavens! That's amazing! I'll try that before the 2nd letter then.
    Thanks
