Hi
Today I opened up the new bt phone book that had been delivered at the end of last week and to my horror I found my old mobile number bizzarly next to my old address and my new address underneath with my home number, I'm fine about the home number. Another bizzar thing is I only changed the number yesterday because of receiving unwanted calls!!!. Anyway I called bt straight away and they passed me around departments until I go to the actual phone book people, and they had said it could of only come from the mobile provider. I then called my mobile provider today to report that they had given my mobile number to be published in the bt phone book and that I had not given permission to do so. The adviser checked and said that they had not, as my information has not been given to any 3rd parties. I am distraught to think that my number had been given out for the public to know, it also explains more why I started to get unwanted calls.
I have called bt back and they say they will look into it. but not sure if they will properly so my main question is who do I turn to for independent advice or action. I just can not belive they are allowed to publish numbers they have not had permission to do so.
