Increase Credit Limit on 0% Credit Card

Hi all,

I have a credit card but it only has a £1200 credit limit and I have about £900 of debt on it. I am only paying the minimum monthly payment as it is 0% and I transfered the debt onto it with no fee.

I want to increase the credit limit to nearer £2000 so I can do the Christmas shopping on it at 0%, and then at the end of the introduction offer, transfer it again to another 0% provider with not balance transfer fee.

Will the credit card company increase the limit for me if I ask?

Thanks all

On the one hand, you're only asking for an £800 increase. On the other, if you have a low credit rating and/or income, they will see it as asking them to virtually double it and may refuse.

The only way to find out is to ask!

EDIT: Does the card allow purchases at 0% as well? If so, is the 0% purchases duration the same length as the 0% BT duration?
  • Hi, both are 6 months at 0%, I called and they have increased by limit by £500.

    Thanks
