my wive has come back from this so called sale and she went to buy some bathroom towels and noticed that there was two price stickers on the items.the one below was actually 35 per cent cheaper than the so called sale price!!!when she queried this the salesman admitted that...... they're marked up so that it makes it look like your getting money off..needless to say she did'nt buy them..dont know if they do that with everything, but thought i'd let you all know... what a rip off!!!

I went today, but even with the 25% off there was nothing even tempting. It was still expensive!0

But the items do have to have been on sale at the higher price within 12 months (or 6, I forget maybe even 18) for them to legally be able to say 25% off theis previously charged price. Dunno if the price has to have been imediately previous or at any time in the last whatever no. of months.0

find a friend with a debenhams staff discount card...... they can get another 25% off..... knew MIL would come in handy.....
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

That's true - but even if it has been on sale at a higher price recently - that still doesn't mean it's a good buy. So I can't see that it makes any difference. An item which is in the sale at £20 is still no cheaper than an item which has only just come on the market at £20 and isn't in the sale. But the items do have to have been on sale at the higher price within 12 months

I might be wrong but I thought it wasn't legal to put a price sticker on top of another showing a lower price; the lower price must be removed first off the shop floor or out of trading hours?0

I thought it didn't have to have been on sale at the higher price everywhere, if you look you will often see that the sale prices are based on prices which have been charged somewhere for the correct length of time.Signature removed for peace of mind0

that's true, "at some stores" is usually what it says.0
