I live in Poole ,Dorset and yesterday we had a horrendous fire which burnt down many electric cables.Hence much of Poole and Bournemouth came to a standstill yesterday.
After the fire brigade had dealt with the fire ,S.E. were there.Men working up a pylon all thru the night. The information S.E. gave out on their phone No. was excellent and the rep on the news was very informative, keeping everyone up to date.
There was not enough power to go around everyone last night so we had it in 3 hour intervals. Therefore everyone was able to have a hot drink, cook tea, heat up their hot water and put their freezers on fast freeze etc.
I thought this was a brilliant idea and they coped fantastically well with the situation
Well done Southern Electric!!!!!!

I echo this - I also live in Poole. Had no power from noon until 7pm, but then no interruptions after that.
In the circumstances , I think they did a fantastic job. I had a battery radio on, and people were actually phoning the local radio station to complain about Southern Electric, which I thought was appalling as the pylon damage was not of their making!
Well done Southern Electric, I was expecting to be in the dark overnight. We sat under the patio heater in the garden and looked across the hills and the harbour for pockets of light - some great fireworks that night and it was a fantastically bright moon that night.
