Sainsburys gets miserley in Scotland !

We've just noticed that people in Scotland no longer get 2 nectar points for every pound spent at Sainsburys.

If you spend less than £50 you only get 1 point per pound spent.

so £49 gets you 49 Nectar points, but £50 gets you 100 !
but only in Scotland !

How do they justify that ??

Less profit in scotland possibly? it costing them too much, people abusing the system, increased costs of delivery, because someone thinks the scots are !!!!!?

There could be hundreds of reasons to justify it;)

Scotland is the pilot for this grand new scheme.

I guess they are trying to get people to do one big shop rather than turn up for loads of micro shops.

Fine, I'll shop somewhere else if that's their game!

    Here's their wonderful reasoning:

No doubt they will have done an analysis of spending patterns and realised they would give out less Nectar points this way, thus saving themselves some money. This is of course based on current spending patterns (i.e. lots of smaller spends rather than one big one), but I assume it is unlikely that people will change their shopping habits dramatically.

Cost cutting measure by Sainsburys dressed up as a trial of how they award Nectar points. They wouldn't be doing it if it worked in the customers favour now would they.

    :D

  • Stupid if you ask me - 1/2p for every pound spend is definitely miserly when Tesco offer 1 clubcard point worth up to 4p when used against deals.
If Sainsburys were the cheapest supermarket they could get away with it but they are not known for being that.
Only people spending over £100 are better off in points under the new system.

I cant see the problem OP, if your not happy with it then dont shop there, sainsburys will have a reason for it,

ah well I'm glad I spend less there these days-I do my "shopping triangle" of Lidl, Aldi then Sainsburys for anything I can't get in the others.
I'm saving more than I'm losing!
