Shouldn't you have seen the colour of them in the shop? Pork chops in Tescos have clear packaging so you should really have been able to see they had gone off looking at the colour (obviously you couldn't smell them)

When I bought them they looked good, and had 5 days date, took them out the fridge 2 days later and they were grey opened to check and they smelt bad with 3 days still left of the use by. I always check I am getting the best date available and choose stuff that looks nice ie meat nice colour not too much fat, bakery stuff squishy not burnt etc not like DH who just grabs and throws in trolly.

    I work for Tesco.
Have done for the past 4 1/2 years.
I fill meat, bacon and pastries.
Gone off meat gets removed by me at my store all the time.
Generally it goes off when the packaging is split.
Even a tiny hole in the packaging can cause the meat to go off.
Certainly at my store its very rare for pork to go off.
Its mostly Steak that gets removed as that doesnt seem to last long at all.
And i think its fair to say you got your money back, what more do you want?
I would understand if they refused a refund, but they didnt so i cant see a cause for complaint to be honest.

Are you sure that the packaging wasn't split at all?
    Was it vacuum packed?
Some packs of pork chops when i fill seem to have no air in at all, which causes the meat to go off alot quicker than with the standard packaging

Okay fair enough. I think if you wrote them a letter asking for compensation for petrol they may do that but I doubt they would give any more than that

See my first post,I just wanted to check what the policy was, as when returning under similar circs in Asda got double. Have never returned in T's wanted to check I didn't get a mean SA. My complaint is I wasted my time and petrol taking them back and got nothing to cover it just what I paid so i am worse off due to T's.

No split, pack had actually expanded .
Not vacuum, tray style 5 spare rib chops.

So the pack has blown up so to speak.
Had it gone oval at the top of the pack?
We have a few packs of pork in every week that does this.
    Generally Pork value shoulder joints.
Spare rib chops, get a pack of them every couple of weeks that
goes off before expiry. Sounds like you had the same to be honest.
Its very random and you cant tell if theyre going off until they go off colour.
