I returned a pack of pork chops to Tesco that were off (grey and smelly)with 3 days date left, and CS just gave me my money back, I've nver returned anything like this to Tesco, only Asda and they refund and replace, I asked if I should get double or something and they said no just a refund, is this correct?

yes, i think just the refund. happened to me once with pizza at sainsbury's...but that had loads of mould on it!!!! really gross, and a lot of the time it is down to customers dumping food in the wrong places. unfortunately though the store should then dispose of stuff left at the till or in the wrong places they clearly do not...i am sure that is how i have had food poisoning in the past...so could be much worse!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. i had chicken that had gone off. it cost about £1.50(wings) from asda. i rang CS they took all the details off the packet and sent me £5 for inconvienience. also tesco have done this previously just rounded it up to nearest 5,10,15. then i just dispose of the product. maybe that would have been a better idea for you? these re priducts i have purchased in store but is like 10 miles away!!0

Just thrown out a pack of cheddar cheese from tesco - opened up the pack to find serious green mold and it was six weeks before it's sell by date.
I've taken back rancid chicken breasts, mouldy cat food, mouldy yoghurt, dodgy pork chops and stinking mince.
This time I couldn't be bothered to watch the barely indifferent glance from the customer service person and wait for my refund to be thrown on the counter, so just threw the cheese straight in the bin.
Don't go off pork chops. Go off the supplier and find someone who sells good quality meat and has higher standards."carpe that diem"0 -
Just thought it seemed inadaquate to just get a refund when I have lost my time and petrol making a trip to take them back wouldn't have bothered but they were over £6 I had just assumed I would get a refund and a replacement, or double refund.
Here's a thought, if they had delivered them could I have made them collect them?AKA: PC

If it was me, I would vote with my feet (?car) and not go to Tesco again. Especially as it's so far away for you.
I would also write a letter to the local paper, which whereI am would have quite a big effect if printed.....they wouldn't like that much.0 -

Do you really think a local paper would be interested in whiffy pack of chops? mind you the front page story is usually school boy raises £38 for charity in sponsored whatever, or old lady trips on uneven paving in town centre.AKA: PC

all over a six pound packet of pork chops? If You See Someone Without A Smile......Give Them One Of Yours0 -
Why not write a letter of complaint to CS at head office? Say you were disappointed with the response of the store given that other stores do xyz as compensation, then witter on about what a good customer you've been for the last 20 years at £100 a week or whatever. Add that it cost you £ in petrol and however much time it took you. etc. Be nice but lay it on think. You'll get an apology and vouchers, you'll see.
On the other hand a full refund is what the law says you should get, nothing else. So don't feel you were "done" in any way.Val.0 -
