I have been with Admiral, Diamond and Bell (all part of the same group as is Elephant). I had one claim with Diamond and they were reasonably ok. The other party dragged their feet but all comms with Diamond were good and they called me back when needed.

Also I find with them (the group), if you chuck on an oldish person (50s, clean lisence, no accidents) onto your policy as a named driver, it brings the insurance down considerably. One car went from over £500 to £320 adding my dad on (I'm 29). My other insurance went from £1300 to £810.

Not impressed with their multicar policy at AT ALL! Here's our experience...
Despite their advertising, we've actually found it much more expensive.
We paid more for 1st car than other companies quoted for long term gain, (i.e would be cheaper when we added 2nd car when its insurance expired.) Tried to do this today. Current insurer quoted £105 & tax, (OK, it's an old runaround and we've max no claims!) Admiral want £205 to add it to existing multi-car policy £100 more / nearly double!
Been on the phone for an hour, (bl00dy 0871 number too!) trying to make sense of this, but passed from pillar to post and no budging on that inflated figure! In fact, they're chuntering about making us pay more as they say we had a discount on our 1st car on the basis we'd be adding another! Even with this so-called discount they claim we had, the policy was still more expensive than many other quotes.
Their admin / call centre is pretty rubbish too, you pay for the privilege of calling them, yet they can't seem to carry out their role accurately. They messed us about originally, making mistakes and getting our registration details wrong. Today's phone call ended with us being cut off and our questions / issues unresolved.

Update: To add insult to injury, they 've now sent us a letter telling us they'll take £30 from the credit card we originally paid on. This is to repay the "Discount" (remember, the original car was MORE expensive than other policies, but we took the long term view!) we received when taking out a multicar policy. Apparently we no longer qualify for this discount as we refused to pay an extra £100 over competitors to add the 2nd car!
Feel frustrated that they can do this, and really annoyed that they're allowed to falsley advertise in this way.
DON'T BOTHER WITH ADMIRAL MULTI-CAR POLICY!
Worse things will have happened in the world today...

Admiral use a FREE PHONE number: 0800 600 800 (I Think) and when you 1st take out the multi car policy they tell you in full what you have to pay for each car even if one of the cars is coming online in 11 months time - and the stick to their quote. So you would have known in advance what you would have had to pay. They also tell you that if the other car /s don`t come onto the multi-car policy you could lose your multi-car discount - so why do you expect a multicar discount when you didn`t complete your side of the contract????

I`ve found their new business office very helpful and knowledable and by free phone to boot .... BWJ :j

Did they 2 years ago tho when the post your replying to was made?

  • I'm with Admiral, I went through them when a guy rear ended my car rather than going through his insurance, they passed me onto their claim management company, Albany Asistance; got my car fixed, and had a hire car, without paying excess, just waiting on the personal injury claim that has went through co-operative legal services, then going to ask for a final confirmation that it is all dealt with, with abany and his insurance has paid for it. I know one guy on here went through albany and they were still pursuing him for the hire car costs because the other party didnt want to pay them, or some such.

If you already have multicar with admiral, make sure you do this when your policy comes up for renewal.

Go onto their website and ask for a quote for the multicar insurance. Make a note of the price and reference number and compare it to your renewal.

I did this as I wanted to know approximately what ours was going down to when it renewed, but when the renewal came through it was £1000 more than the quote I had online!!

I phoned them, and they honoured the online quote.

So make sure they dont do this to you!

Oh and for all of you peeps complaining about their 0870 numbers, there is a freephone number, as there is with most companies if you look on the website www . say no to 0870 . com
