Getting YOUR money back!!
Options
I'm presently with Scottish Power, dual fuel, capped until March 2011 (thank goodness!). Have just had my "annual review" and my account was £133+ in credit. SP sent my review and reduced my monthly direct debit from £90 to £75.50 and had no intention of offering to refund the overpayment. Luckily I know that I am entitled to have the overpayment refunded and have requested that to happen (and they have agreed but my direct debit has, understandably reverted back to £90). In all other ways I am very happy with Scottish Power but for those who are not aware of their entitlements remember the money is much more useful earning you interest in your account rather than doing so in their's!!

And do they give you a discount for paying by DD? Surely that's your 'reward' for paying by DD. Most schemes work towards building some credit towards much larger winter bills so you should have credit on your a/c now.0

Yes dd discount, but only refund overpayments automatically if more than three months worth of payments in credit!0

I think the important point is that the OP was in credit at the time of their annual review.
Other than for an annual review, a refund would not normally be expected at this time of the year as you would expect to be in credit before the winter.
British Gas policy was(is?) to refund anything over £100 at the time of the annual review.0
