Firefox problems

Hi again.
I posted last week as I was having problems on my laptop with Firefox stopping. Tried reverting to the old version and it's made no difference. I am running AVG, Zonealarm, and spybot with it and it connects to the internet wirelessly through my brand new Netgear router.
I upgraded recently to FF3, and AVG8 and I think that was the beginning of the problem, which appears to be getting worse and worse.
The laptop periodically crash dumps as well. The laptop has Vista as it's OS. I run all the same stuff on a desk top with XP and have no problems with it at all. The problem seems to have started after the AVG and FF update, but wasn't immediately apparent - however I did go away on holiday shortly afterwards.
I'm debating uninstalling FF, AVG and Zonealarm, rebooting and reinstalling them. Does this sound a feasible option (the alternative might be to chuck the laptop through the window!)?
Any suggestions greatfully received.
TIA

I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Firefox problems may be caused by something in your profile, so merely reinstalling Firefox won't have an affect.
Try starting Firefox up in Safe Mode and see if it continues to exhibit the same problems. If not, then it's something in your profile that's the problem.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

When you uninstalled firefox did you do a search and remove all the junk it leaves behind after the uninstall manually.vivaladiva wrote: »Hi again.

If not try uninstalling it again and removing EVERY TRACE of it first then install one of the 2xxx series from oldapps.*Make every day Caturday*0 -
Try FireFox Portable, it's Ver 2 no installation required, runs from the folder, and see if it can run ok on your system whilst you try and sort the other problems out. Once you get things sorted removing the portable version is as simple as deleting the folder.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

I've done an install and it appears to have gone, but your reply suggests there might be bits lurking. What do I do?
BTW I think I have solved the dump power failure thingy - it seems to be my mouse
. Any ideas - I like my notebook mouse. I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Use the windows search facility AFTER you have done the firefox uninstall.vivaladiva wrote: »I've done an install and it appears to have gone, but your reply suggests there might be bits lurking. What do I do?
Search for anything with firefox in the file name and then search Mozilla, delete all files you find.
Then reboot and then reinstall one of the series 2 Firefoxes like you did before or series 3 if you prefer and have no probs with it. Personally I'm sticking with series 2. FF3 caused me to many problems.*Make every day Caturday*0
