Ive always wanted to give buying and selling shares ago but ive never had the guts to go ahead with it as i havent got a clue what all the market lingo is
looking at the prices, say ITV is 43.90 so is that 43 pence a share and GLAXOSMITHKLINE is 1,256.00 so is that £1.25 a share? or is my maths skills letting me down again :rotfl: Is it really worth buying & selling on the small scale or do you need £1000's to get anywhere.

your maths has let you down Glaxosmithkline is £12.56p share prices are all in pence so 1 would be 1p and 100 would be £1

Have you considered investing in funds or investment trusts instead of shares? These allow investment into a wider range of shares than you could achieve with a smaller amount to invest.
Investing in a few individual shares is likely to be high risk. You only have to look at examples like various banks and house builders share prices over the last year to see that. Personally I've got quite a number of individual shares but they've been acquired through share options and various savings schemes with my employer. If I've invested outside of this its been in funds.0
