Craftmatic - Targeting Elderly and Vulnerable

I'm sorry I haven't been back to this forum for a while, but thanks for all your support. You will be pleased to hear I managed to get my mother her money back, despite the fact that the cooling-off period has run out. Instead of targeting Craftmatic, I targeted Barclays Partner Finance who supply the finance agreements for Craftmatic. I recorded the phone calls I held with the bank and threatened to complain to the Financial Services Ombudsman about the bank's policy. They admitted that they approved loans to companies like Craftmatic despite not knowing whether the financial data submitted to them is correct or not. They simply run a credit check on the purchaser - if it comes back good (as it does with most elderly people), they will agree the loan. They admitted they had no idea what my mother's real income was and that the Craftmatic salesman could put any fictional figures on the form. I really badgered them and I think they believed I was from Trading Standards or maybe a journalist. Either way, within a few days they called me to say the loan had been canceled and the bed would be picked up. Please, Trading Standards if you read these things, just take away the license to trade from this company. You have ample justification for doing it.0
