Can this be done...

....paying my current account X amount from my Barclaycard.

Hi all, new to MSE here. Great site and great help form you guys, the users of the site. Enough bum kissing and on with the problem.

I've given myself a plan to get myself out of a tough few years trying to pay off an MBNA card, which has killed my finances and credit rating over the years.

However, to achieve this, I need to pay my current account with my other CC, my Barclaycard. I have looked everywhere on my online account for this, but don't see an option to do it. Is it possible? As I cannpt pay my MBNA card direct from my Barclaycard or any other credit card.

I should point out I have a Barclays current account and have done for like, 11 to 12 years. I just need to get say £400 from my Barclays account, to my current accont and then to my MBNA. This coupled with the £500 payment I'm making this month, gets the limit to the point I can reclaim £1400 of charges against the MBNA, so if they decide to kill my account, I'm not left paying massive balances.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks in advance.

Only a few cards offer a transfer to a current account, and unfortunately Barclaycard isn't one of them.

Can't you balance transfer from your MBNA card to your Barclaycard? Or have I misunderstood the problem?
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.
  • I don't know how to be honest mate. How can I transfer say £400 from the MBNA one to my Barclaycard. Is there an option to do this online or something?

Saying that, I can't setup online access for my MBNA. It asks for my account number, date of birth or something and the last balance as shown on my last statement, so I try this when I get the statement through the door and it just says, nah, not interested. Anyone know how to set this up for MBNA as well as my original query? Thanks for your response so far.

    Might want to start here

What you want to do, is do a balance transfer from the barclaycard to the MBNA one. Basically £400 comes off your barclaycard, and gets paid to your MBNA one.
(Barclaycard have a rate of 6.9% for the life of the balance).

You might want to read up on balance transfers to make sure you understand them fully before going ahead with it.

Barclaycard may have a "balance transfer" option online, however you may have to call them to do it. But in any case, it will most likely have a 3% fee attached and interest will start accruing straight away, so probably not a good option.

I think you're probably best to apply for a new card, one with no fee for new balance transfers. How about one of these:

Hopefully other people will offer advice, in case they can think of something I haven't thought of. EDIT: Like Ben1982 for example, thanks for the link.
