Credit Card Statements

What about self responsibility. You know what you spend, you know what you owed before. Regardless of whether a statement comes out these figures should be known to you.
I agree the credit company could do with some brushing up on their systems here but the fact remains that with or without a statement it is possible to keep things on track yourself. It states clearly on the back of statements how interest is calculated. A spreadsheet with formulas would assist in making the calculation of minimum payment.0 -
A spreadsheet with formulas would assist in making the calculation of minimum payment.the company is obliged by financial regulations to provide him with "timely" and accurate information to enable him to manage his account
My advise would be to contact the compaints dept in writing, detailing conversations or agreements regarding the new payment date. Then state that because of their failure to deliver statements on time (and not allow payments over the phone) that they are directly responsible for late/incorrect payment. If they dont put things right by refunding any charges and/or interest, mention that you will contact the finincial services authority (I think its the FSA that deal with credit issues, best to check though)
Do still make minimum payments though. Refusing to pay will not look good.

Your card company has a responsibility to get your statement to you with sufficient time to pay.
If they are not then you need to take it up with them.
If they are, but you are just not that organised about sending off payment or going to a branch or post office to make sure the funds clear then that is your problem and one you need to fix.
Paying £20 plus each month or defaulting is simply stupid and not helping you get out of debt.
Over 90% of credit card accounts can be checked on the internet and you obviously have net access.
Your bank will try to help but you need to help yourself a bit too here it seems.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

I thought the OP wanted to pay the minimum but was unable to because the CC company didn't send him a statement (saying how much the minumum amount was) until just before, or after the payment due date. By which time, it was too late to make the minimum payment and avoid the late payment fine (and the black marks on the credit file).
This CC company do sound like one to avoid. If only we knew which one it was.
Has the OP contacted someone like Citizen's Advice to see how they stand legally in case this goes to court?0
