hi there
my friend was having problems with his pc ,he had 2 viruses that he could not get rid of , and also some spyware called xp antivirus 2008 although he did have antivirus, firewall and spyware protection, was unable to remove them.
so we thought the best thing to do , was do a factory restore using the acer restore cd, which we did i so the computer would be back to factory setting and remove everything.
The problem is now his pc is running slow, and having problems installing software, it will just stop like halfway through install.
is it likely to also have a hardware problem, such as the hardrive? many thanks

Did he format before running the restore CD? If it just copies files over the top of your old installation, then the virus would still be there.
The acer restore CD probably also installs a lot of crap you don't need. Removing this, along with updating all your drivers to the latest version, installing windows updates, removing norton and replacing it with avast or AVG will help no end.0 -
the cd does it all , i assume so as it said it would be restored to factory setting and all data would be removed, also when installing programs the cpu is showing at 100% all the time, many thanks0
