Hi appreciate any help, Ihave office works and have downloaded an xls file that the computer refuses to open. Any suggestions please.

its probably cos you dont have MS excel packaged with Works. .xls is an excel spreadsheet.
One solution is to grab a copy of openoffice which is free and works like MS Office suite and also uses the same file extensions

Check microsoft site for a "Viewer" type program there is one for Word.0
