Cr Card Tarts Turned down for new cards

I always pay my credit card balance off every month, until last April when i purchased a car on my card. With such a large balance on the card I decided to do a balance transfer to the virgin one card, this was fine, however I looked to do another balance transfer again to MBNA (MBNA actually administer the Virgin card) and was turned down, there was no mention of my Virgin One Account.
On a separate occasion I applied for an American Express Blue card, because of the 2% cashback, again I was turned down.
I have never had an overdraft, always pay my credit card within the terms, am employed, own a house with only about a 20% mortgage and have no other loans.
Am I being turned down because my credit rating is to good? Has anyone else had experience of this?

Not necessarily. Lots of things can affect your credit rating. For example if you haven't been canceling cards when you have finished with them then your total available credit may look too high to them (even if you are not using it all).
Have a read about the sort of things that can affect credit scores by clicking on the Credit Rating link in the blue box above.0 -

MBNA, in common with other card providers E.G. HBOS, will not ot transfer from one 0% card to another 0% card within their own stable. It is nothing personal it is a general practice.
