Lavender oil to help pregnant woman sleep?

My wife is 10 weeks pregnant, and occasionally has real trouble sleeping....
I've heard that a couple of drops of 100% lavender oil on her pillow at night will help?
Is this the case, and is it safe?
(Or if anyone has any other suggestions....)

i use lavender oil on all our pillows to aid sleep and i it does work, i also use an oil burner in the living room with lavender oil in that i burn before bedtime to get the kids relaxed.
Have just googled how safe it is in pregnancy and as far as i can tell it is fine.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
When I was pregnant, the midwife told me to stay away from lavender.
I also hadawful truble sleeping. Try warm milk with a little bit of cinnimon.LBM May 2007 -£20584!!! (£18k is ex-husbands-nice guy, eh? )

I'd check with the midwife on this as certain herbs and i'm not sure which ones at the beginning are not good to have.
Midwife is a professional who can tell you for certain what is safe so early in pregnancy.
pukkamum says its good
tinypawz is saying no so best get midwife to confirm.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
I had trouble sleeping whilst pregnant in the later stages (first 3 months I just slept forever it seemed!!) and was told by my midwife to steer clear of pure essential lavender oil.
What about lavender bubble bath? Same smell..or Avon do a good Sleep Therapy shower gel which I use in the evening (yup, still have problems sleeping 7 years later!). They also have a little balm that you can rub in your wrists.0
