NPower - Economy 7 Tariff

Can anybody please tell me what exactley the economy 7 tariff is with npower as i am in the process of trying to sort my bill out with them as i have switched companies. I only have a meter that gives you 1 reading not 2 but on my bill it says day and night?. I never asked to go onto Economy 7 when i first moved into my house 10 months ago and i don't think i have been put on the right tariff from the start really. I have no storage heaters or anything like that i have a normal central heating system. I pay by direct debit every month aswell.

Can anyone shed any light on this as i don't think they have been billing me correctly?

Thanks

The more modern E7 meters are only one meter. Both rates (and sometimes the total) are recorded on the same dial, and you swap between rates either by pushing a button, or the meter does it automatically by flashing up the different rates in sequence all the time.
If npower show two rates on your bill they are either guessing (unlikely), mixing you up with some other meter, or you really do have a E7 meter.
Just to check can you post the totals so we can see if they are realistic. For someone not using electric heating or making specific efforts to use electric overnight I would say your night time electric would be about 20% (or slightly less) of the total.
