Does anyone know???

Options
Having chatted with friends recently over the rising costs of gas and elec., we have found out that some keep their heating on a low heat all day also keeping the water heated all day, and have said that this is better than the boiler firing up twice a day, keeping it constant helps keep the costs down. Does anyone know if this actually works, we are of the opinion it would cost a fortune to keep the boiler constantly on? Any advice would be appreciated?

Thanks

So not one of the other five hundred threads discussing this topic is good enough for you, eh? :D You want to start one all for yourself.

Of course, it's even cheaper not to set the timer and not to switch it on in the morning. Only switch it on on evenings when it's very cold.

No, no, don't try again, you misunderstand. Never mind. I'm going to bed.

The water will keep hot Niall, in modern tanks for quite a while.
Depends on usage, but do a trial. Half an hour in the morning, test it in the evening, and so on.
Another experiment would be to go to bed , say, an hour earlier, set your heating to go off an hour earlier than that, so two hours heating saved.
You certainly don't need the heating and hot water on all the time.
