Changing Provider but wait ..British Gas Cheapest

Options
Hi,

I would like to change from my current provider Npower

When I run the Uswitch checks it comes up as British Gas Click Energy 5 Dual Fuel as the cheapest..

Would anyone recommend returning to Br Gas.

The second best is E.ON....But about £80 cheaper..

any help appreciated

thanks

  • I think you will find that the two you mention that come out top for you have yet to have a price rise added to them but it's expected very soon, then it will be more of an level playing field.

First, you will lose between 7 and £77 when you switch from Npower (as you won't receive your annual dual fuel direct debit [STRIKE]lock-in penalty[/STRIKE] discount.) But you may receive up to £60 from a cashback referral if you join British Gas. And the [STRIKE]lock-in[/STRIKE] discount with British Gas appears to be credited monthly or quarterly so if the next increase with them is too great you will only lose one or two month's rebate if you need to switch again (after you've waited for your cashback).

So, on balance, I don't think there is too great a risk in switching. But the saving may be a lot tighter than you think. Or it may be a lot more.
  • From npower to BG - talk about out of the frying pan into the fire, lol. BG have ONE saving grace...Click 5 is, traditionally, the cheapest tariff on the market for many people. If it wasn't I wouldn't go anywhere near the company, tbh. And that's speaking from (painful!) experience.
    Call me Carmine....

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • thanks for the replies.

    Have changed to E.on V8..

Had enough with NPower My bills are all over the place and seperate..

Don't think I can risk British gas. (again))

    thanks

Hmm, I was planning on switch to the BG Click 5 tarriff. Uswitch was saying i'd save around £200. I think i'll wait just in case they do decide to increase prices.
This space is available to rent... :D

It is a question of 'when' not 'if'.
