I don't have any kind of spam filter as I use Googlemail and collect the mail via Outlook. Google is so good at spam filtering I never get any junk mail.
• How do you set up to collect in Outlook and then use in Googlemail?
I have just set up a googlemail account to try to get round the problem of spam in my Outlook inbox.

Spamihilator (http://www.spamihilator.com/) works well - so long as you use it with Outlook... Actually it's been a while since I last used it, so maybe it works better with other email clients now.

Alternatively sign up for a service with someone like GMX.com - you can get GMX to pickup emails from your main POP3 or IMAP and route them through its spam filter.

You have to log into your Googlemail account, click on Settings then Fowarding and POP/IMAP and enable POP or IMAP. Then create an account in Outlook to collect the mail from Google. The instructions from Googlemail all make it very easy.
• Thanks Marty.

I will try that.

Having gone to the touble of set up Googlemail and changed my e-mail address on most things I am now finding that Spamhilator is working really well on Outlook. I am very impressed with it and that is just in 2 days.

I will see how things go and may move everything back to my previous e-mail address and Outlook as I prefer the look of it to googlemail.

I just NEED to see an end to the spam which has been rendering my Inbox unusable of late.

Total thicko on most of this stuff so all the help I receive on this Forum is a godsend.

• Just one quick further question if I may ....

When I sighned up for a Gmail address I got XXXX@googlemail.com

When this appears in e-mails it shows as XXXXXX@gmail.com

I have tried to send to both from my old address and they both seem to work.

Could anyone shed any light on the correct one to use and any problems associated with either?

Yes they will both work fine. Gmail is the original/international version but they were not really allowed to use that name in the UK as someone else had already registered it, and so introduced the variant to get around the problem. But it all goes through the same Google mail servers.
