I feel for you. It's a shame that scum have no respect for other people's property because they can't have one themselves. It's also worth a look at www.nfh.org.uk

Do the families the kids come from own any cars by any chance? (I'm guessing not but thought it worth asking).

Only other thing I can think is to park in another street, or to see if your local council rents out garages and has any available..

It is actually a specific offence to get onto a motor vehicle -

    http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1988/ukpga_19880052_en_3#pt1-pb6-l1g25
    25 Tampering with motor vehicles

If, while a motor vehicle is on a road or on a parking place provided by a local authority, a person—
    (a) gets on to the vehicle, or
    (b) tampers with the brake or other part of its mechanism,
without lawful authority or reasonable cause he is guilty of an offence.
    Road traffic act 1988

Out of interest what approximate region of West Yorkshire are you in? (as I'm in Leeds 9) You can PM me if you wish.

I wonder if a CCTV camera, or even a dummy CCTV camera pointed at your car is an option? AFAIK the only legal challenges to this are if it points at or across someone's garden. Therefore if it can point to where you park your car without pointing into someone's garden you should be OK I think. It may be the case that they do it all the more though and "perform" for the camera.

I'd be guessing you're in a similar position to me, own a car and no-one else in your area does. The area is dodgy - probably don't have much rapport with the neighbours (or they're scum anyway or are actually the people messing with your car). In this sort of a situation whatever you will do to stop them it will always be a case of all them against you. I imagine if you complained to the council's anti-social behaviour unit they'd want more than one person to be making a complaint against a family before taking any action, even if there is video evidence - so you're probably stuck.

actually the only other thing I can think of, (which isn't that much of a good idea, really,) but do any of your neighbours have a garage going spare that you could come to some agreement for a little while until these idiots forget about your car and move on to something else (or someone else to terrorise)

Oh do go get a sodding grip on reality won't you? You're like those morons who stopped me taking photos of my own son on his first time in a swimming pool aren't you?

    It's not illegal.

I'd shoot the sodding lot of you.

I have to agree with you here Conor, I take my dd swimming twice a week and the life guards are so hot on this. It makes my blood boil, we should have a right to take pictures of our children having great fun if we wish, this is a really sad time we live in.

I think most parents would rather paedophiles were at the poolside taking pictures where they can be seen, than hanging around the changing rooms :rotfl:
  • Ring Plod and tell them there are some kids messing about with what look like knives, they'll be there quicker than you can say "Evenin' All"
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

I have a firm grip on reality, why not try ranting at the police who advise not videoing other people's children?

  • if you park on a street next to other cars, park nose to nose with someone, this worked for me as it meant they couldnt jump on as the boot was too high. Dont make the car slippery, if they fell they would probably do more damage that just running over it, also if they worked out what was going on they would probably smash your car up. I would just park it elsewhere for a while
