How can I find out about Council Tax?

Hi hope someone can help:D
I am having a mooch about at properties to let, and looked at one today that was lovely, but the owner has only just bought it and said he does not know what the council tax is.
I need to know so that I know if I can afford it or not! Is there any way I can find out?

Every local authority has a council tax office. The owner doesn't know? Either he is not collecting the post at that address or the local office is incredibly inefficient...under normal circumstances multiple reminders are sent out to the occupier of the address in anticipation of occupation / fear of missing out on every sub-fraction of a penny of this community tax.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Thank you, I had a look at this site before I posted, but I cannot find the property lsited.
The LL says he only bought the house a week ago....... he is a farmer, it is jsut off the edge of his land, and I think he bought it so no one knocked it down and turned it into something he didnt like........does not seem to know a great deal about letting....... 0 -

Oh right yes I see..........well he thinks he can quite confidently guess at £700..............cheapest banding for my council are starts at about £900, so I think not! He wants an answer tomorrow as others are coming to look at it, I think I am going to have to say no...........0 -

There are other places to rent. Its honestly not worth putting yourself into a situation where you have bills to pay and don't know if you can afford them.
Another option would be to call the council and ask them? But remember that there are other places to rent.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Thank you to all who replied, I have googled and yahooed my way to an answer, and found out it is £1273.43 so nowhere near his £700 pulled out of a hat...........................but thank you xxxxxxx0

I think no would be wise. If he can't even do the simple things, how will he cope when he has to safeguard your deposit, get safety certs, etcThis is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0
