Changing from prepayment meters

I've been Money Tipped!
When we moved into our rented house there were already prepayment meters for the gas and electric with Eon - the previous tenant had a debt with them.

We asked to change them to ordinary meters and were told we could not do that until we had lived at the address for a year. In that year the price of electric went up and our meter was not changed so we ended up owing them over £200.

We have now managed to pay off the debt and asked again for the meters to be changed. We have been told it will cost £100 to change them. Not too happy about that as it was not our choice to have them but we are prepared to pay it to save money in the long run. The thing is the person on the phone told OH that we are not paying any more for our gas and electric by having the prepayment meters. I really can't believe this can be true - is it?

    According to Eon themselves:
Save up to £127* with EnergyOnline Extra Saver!

    * Saving based on a customer currently taking E.ON unrestricted electricity and gas and paying promptly by quarterly cash cheque, switching both fuels to our EnergyOnline Extra Saver 8 product, managing their account online, paying by Fixed Monthly Direct Debit with average annual electricity consumption of [...] EnergyOnline Extra Saver 8 product is not available for customers with prepayment [...]

So it may technically be true if you pay quarterly with credit meters you won't be charged less than on prepayment. But if you switch meter you will have access to cheaper tariffs/payment methods.
