If you want cheap, reasonable accomodation, with access to the city for shopping, why not stay in Hoylake, Wirral.
It is a 20 minute train ride to the city centre, (which you would have to take to get to city anyway) Hoylake high street has many bars and restaurants. It is quieter and safer than Liverpool,
Cheapest way to get there is by airport bus to lime street train station £5 and 20 minute journey, train Lime Street to Hoylake, 20 minute £2.50. 3 minute walk to hotel and local bars etc.
Try google for King's Gap Hotel or The Green Lodge Hotel.Lic.0 -

For some reason you've picked a really busy couple of days! I would definitely stay in town though if you want to see Liverpool. The Wirral might be quieter, but that's not what you come to Liverpool for is it? There's also two new hotels opening in October at Liverpool ONE but I can't seem to find any info on them for you.0 -
Have you decided on a hotel yet OP?0

With respect Hoylake is like Beruit on a weekend.
Why ??
Too many locals think they own the place
Liverpool isnt WHY ??
every one is a outsider no-one lives in the town centre
Liverpool(center) is (in my opinion) safer than Hoylake
And Birkenhead is Kabul.
All said Hoylake & West Kirby are Beautiful with some great restraunts. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Hi - just thought I would update everyone that was kind enough to offer advice. We eventually got booked (last minute - due to personal reasons) The Adelphi! Heard mixed reviews before we went - but obviously landed lucky! We had a luxury suite - with a 4 poster bed! The room was spotless and the staff were more than helpful. It was full of athletes as there is a boxing tournament on at the minute so the hotel was certainly jumping.
Had an absolute ball - even tho the weather wasnt great! But would certainly go back to Liverpool and would recommend it to anyone that asked.
Thanks again to everyone that offered advice - it was really appreciated!:beer:0
