Digital photo frames - recommendations?

It is my parents' golden wedding anniversary soon and the family want to put together a digital display of the past 50 years for them - we thought a digital photo frame would be the best plan.
The photos at present are jpgs on the computer (or will when all scanned!) and there are likely to be several hundred of them. It would also be good for them to be able to add pictures - again likely to be from the computer.
What are the key things I should be looking for? I am getting a bit confused about the different specs! If anyone has any recommendations I'd be really grateful.
Also - apart from cost is there any disadvantage of going for 10 inch? (e.g needing higher resolution images to look good). Or is 7 inch better?
And to complicate matters we'd really like a wooden frame to go with their decor! That is not a killer requirement but would be nice.
Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

resolution is probably most important - some are very low
also aspect ratio some are 16:9 which doesn't suit your average photo
screen size reqd depends on likely viewing distance
Once you got the frame, it worth spending some time preparing the jpegs to get the best of them on the frame - even if your going for the 10" one its best to 'frame' the image properly especially for a special 50th ani one
Can I refer you to an earlier post on the subject HERE0 -

although I prefere to put my card into my laptop and put my photo's on that way...haven't had a problem with any of my photo's and some are as big as 2"x2" and some are 10"x10" so it doesn't really matter with mine...which is a datawrite make...

If you want a decent one the best are Sony's around £80 for the 7" they automatically crop the pictures down to the correct size from what ive read and has onboard memory
We bought one at the weekend from Staples for £40, has a lovely wooden frame but pic quality is poor due to low resoloution 480x234 which is what most of the cheap ones run at, its going back at the weekend.
Im going to get either a HP, Sony or Samsung one as they run at 800x480 so alot more detail and clearer pictures, just looking at prices over the next few days0
