Do you mean that the loan is in her name, the loan amount was paid into his account?0

My sister took out a HSBC personal loan for her boyfriend who had bad credit. The bank set up the loan payments (with her boyfriend sat next to her in the bank, fully open that the loan was for him) to bypass my account and go directly from the boyfriends account to the loan company.
Only because I don't know, can anyone explain if this was legal and if there is anything she can do about it as he has not stopped paying the darn thing.

Doesn't really make sense... can you reread what you wrote and edit it as necessary to make it absolutely clear.0 -

Hi hun.
So basically they have both been given loans in each of their accounts ?
Sorry if I have mis read this but who actually signed to have the loan hun ?
Di.The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I think the girlfriend has the loan in her name, the loan amount was put in the girlfriends account then transferred in the boyfriends account?
As the last part of the question, is he now not paying it? If so its the girlfriends responsibility to pay it. Not the boyfriends0 -

as I have already said ..this makes no sense
first you say ' to bypass MY account' ... why 'MY'
you then say 'he has NOT stopped paying' ... if so what's the problem
and its clearly not complete0 -
If I understand it correctly - the boyfriend wanted the loan but couldn't get it. Therefore the bank provided a loan to the partner, however a SO was set up for the loan payments from the boyfriends account?
I'm guessing where you said "he's not stopped paying the darn thing" that in fact he has stopped paying, else they'd be no issue.
Ultimately the loan agreement is in her name, she signed for it so it's her responsibility and the bank can persue her for the debt.0 -

No the bank isn't at fault. They lent her money, she chose to spend it on him.
IMHO I think what really happened, was they went to bank, and asked for loan. BF was turned down, so asked for GF to have a loan instead. She was accepted. She then spent money paying of BF debt. He is now not playing ball and she is trying to blame the bank, instead of beating ten barrels out of the (now ex) BF. Is that the case?0 -
Sorry Dan,
As the above post really, its in your sisters name and as the ex boyfriend is not paying it your sister will have to.
MSE is littered with similar stories.
Sorry mate0
