Average gas bills at the moment is probably around the £700 mark.

Based on a usage of 19,000 (rough average) with Ebico the bill would be £543.. So still competitive!

lmao, wait till the price rises !! Considering the average rises on gas were around 25% to 35% mark, if ebico follow suit that would increase by approx a further £150 !!, and no that is not competative or one of the cheapest. But we shall have to see by how much it increases. Especially around the average use mark, there has always been cheaper than ebico anyway, ebico is only cheap on gas if you are a low user, around 10,000 to 13,000. Even for a low user of 13,000 kwh on gas, if ebico increased by 30% it becomes very much borderline with the rest of them and not cheap anymore, even for a low user !!!
At best even being a low user, if ebico raised gas by 30%, it is only approx £10 or £20 cheaper than some of the better standard tariffs. At which point if you go into further depth with a company that looks good, you may find they offer special offers, discounted tariffs, duel fuel / direct debit discounts, which then make it cheaper than ebico anyway, even for a low user.

Again with the electric, averages were around 9% and 15% mark and if ebico followed suit, again that would put it up approx a further £50 and there is already cheaper, even before this expected rise as prior details given

I know for sure the electric needs to be switched away from ebico, but the gas, all depends on what % they increase it by.

As for SP electricity, it is 900 tier 1 per year as already stated by a fellow forum member.

loz, a tip for you, go round all the energy suppliers web sites, get the applicable tariffs that suit your circumstances, get your useage figures and calculate, it may take you a couple of hours, but then you know, as ive done.

The thing is, Ebico have never made claims to be the cheapest supplier. It's all about charging people fairly and not penalising people for using prepayment meters - those who pay the most for their energy but are usually least able to pay.

Also, a lot of people don't like the 'Big Six' suppliers, so for it's a great option for those people, and for those who don't mind paying maybe slightly more to help bring lower prices to those who need them the most.

    1) I believe this disgusting industry practice is going to be stopped by the increasingly desparate Labour Govt. so Ebico's USP will effectively be dissipated if not destroyed.

    2) Problem being by buying gas from Ebico you are STILL contributing to the profits of one of the Big 6 energy companies! If you want TOTAL fairness, we need to RE-NATIONALISE our essential utilities.
