Traditionally at Eid, presents are money or new clothes. Could also give bangles or jewellery to girls or toys/games depending on age of kids. Chocs/sweets/cookies would probably go down well too! Traditionally give Indian sweets so maybe you could get a box of them? Can make them too if you want to do oldstylee!
The indian ice-cream - kulfi is yummy and easy as don't need to beat it as much as european type ice cream! Lots of recipes if you google.

You probably need to remember that the meat, if there is any, should be Halal. You'll need to find a Halal butcher nearby if you have one. Otherwise it'll be a vege meal (or fish).
Whatever it is, my friends tend to be knackered by the end of the day - some fruit to start with is a good idea to get the blood sugar up first.
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -

does anyone have an easy recipe for a nice cold fruit desert for eid that i could prepare the night before?

What about a nice fruit chaat? basically spicy fruit salad
can eat on own or with greek yoghurt.
Use chaat masala - buy in indian supermarket or can get from larger tesco or asda.
If not available, we just add a light sprinkling of chilli powder or ground black pepper and some amchoor (ground dried mango powder) if we have it.
Can use any fruit but I try to include mango, guava and banana. Chop into small pieces (about half strawberry sized)
Can use fresh or tinned. The guava really makes it for me! The smell of guava is fantastic! fresh or tinned!
Use the juice/syrup in the salad and dilute with orange juice.
Can google for a few recipes and pictures.
Enjoy!0
