Hi, we have a laptop about 5 years old the battery is no good and the battery charger that goes into the electric is no good, because the little hole at the back of the laptop seems to have broke ( sorry very hard to explain ) We took it to a computer shop who took it apart, and told us they have fixed it. That was ok for about 3 months ow its gone again, it cost us £70 and they did say they couldnt garantee it would it wont go again, so what do I do scrap it or ahve it done again, it seems such a waste thanks x

sounds like the solder joint has cracked, I'd have it apart myself and re-solder the power connection.
soldering irons can be bought for under a tenner, worth a go, if you kill it you're already prepared to buy another

For a five year old laptop, if you cant do it yourself as Tony suggests, I'd start looking for a new one. Don't throw good money after bad.
