Recently, when I try to use the "Start search" facility at the bottom of my Vista "Start" panel, I get the message "Search failed to initialize" and when I type anything in the search line of the Folders, nothing happens. I followed the instructions and rebuilt the indexing but still nothing. Any possible solutions?

Have you recently applied service pack 1 to Vista? The service pack may have removed the Search feature, so you need to manually add it back.0

Yes, I have. How do I manually add it again?0

Use a freeware utility such as XDN Tweaker, from http://www.xdntweaker.com/0

Many thanks for your help. I followed the instructions and "enabled" the search facility, the xdntweaker showed that it changed, but ...it didn't work.Use a freeware utility such as XDN Tweaker, from http://www.xdntweaker.com/0
