memory

I've downloaded a film from the internet, about 4 hours long and when I go to play it with realplayer a message comes up with Ran out of memory, other films work fine, I've 2 harddrives C & D. C has around 25gb and D about 120gb i'm stuck and not sure what to do.

You could try increasing the size of your swapfile, or getting more ram.

I didn't see any mention to it being an illegal film.

What file type is it? If it's not a realplayer file type you could try another video player such as VideoLan.

If the film is a realplayer format, then maybe try Real Alternative. It's real player but without the bulk.

How large is the move file you've downloaded? And have you actually downloaded it or is it being streamed (since you mention Real Player).

Increasing the pagefile (as mentioned above) is one possible solution.

  • This is often misleading. IMHO an experience this would point to a corrupted file or possibly a missing or corrupt codec. Get realplayer to update all codecs - maybe even reinstall. If that fails, try the download again.

If it really is memory you can tell by ctrl-alt-del, run the file and look at your memory usage.
